Blurring lines. Crossing borders. Ignoring boundaries.
Design is increasingly global, pan-disciplinary, multi-media, and amorphous, defying traditional boundaries or categories. Where does architecture stop and graphic communication begin? What’s the difference between exhibition design and retail store design? How will new media affect design in the built environment?
At the 2009 SEGD Conference + Expo— themed “Blurring the Boundaries”— we’ll celebrate the dynamic, category-defying state of design today.
San Diego provides the perfect venue for exploring design’s pliant boundaries. It’s a city where design and culture meet, and where public art, branding, and placemaking merge in a beautiful setting. From Balboa Park’s unforgettable Spanish Colonial architecture to Chicano Park’s storied murals, and from Pt. Loma Lighthouse to the Mission Beach Boardwalk, San Diego will be an exciting place to network, explore, and learn.

Each year during the SEGD Conference + Expo, SEGD hosts a one-day exhibition of products and services offered by EGD-related vendors, fabricators, and artisans. It’s an ideal gathering place for vendors to meet with designers and clients who specify their products. And it provides a unique opportunity to talk one-on-one with the people responsible for today’s high-profile EGD projects.
