The project's success is a result of an integrated design effort. International-type icons are employed on the directional signage to designate building functions such as restrooms, conference rooms, and cafes. Color-coding is used in conjunction with the icons, which corresponds to walls painted the same color in each conference or service area. A naming system is developed for the conference rooms with the entire building plan keyed to a world map; city names are assigned to rooms based on their coordinates on the globe. Additionally, the serial number of a specific 737 aircraft that actually flies through each city is incorporated graphically on the poster. This is a visual reference to the personal connection that each worker, designer, or engineer has to other places and cultures.

Jury Comment

"What a great graphic experience! It gives you the sense that a workplace can be fun. The oversized lettering and overall graphic program make you feel that the planes you are building are really going somewhere. There was a lot of movement between the spaces as the graphics carried you along your journey through the building to your destination. The colors were 'now' and well coordinated throughout the different disciplines and graphic hierarchy. Well done!"
