3M
3M (St. Paul, Minn.) introduced Scotchcal Clear View Printing Film 8150, the first perfectly transparent cast PVC printing film on the market. Any design can be perfectly reproduced using digital or screenprinting, while unprinted areas allow a perfectly clear view through the glass. Even filigree details, such as individual hairs, can be represented, and color gradients can easily be reproduced.

 

Architectural Signing (Atlanta and Tampa, Fla.) was awarded three large programs involving the complete renovation of the client's exterior signage: University of Massachusetts (Lowell, Mass.), Hermann Park (Houston), and Medical College of Georgia (Augusta, Ga.)

 

The firm also introduced its new Public Photo Site, designed to give designers and clients the ability to review project photos on the Internet. (The site is shared with its affiliated company, CreativeKiosk.) Photos are organized by market and project. Though the site is open to the public, individual projects can be password protected for secure client access.

 

BARCO (Rancho Cordova, Calif.) announced that several of its products won awards. Kicking off InfoComm 2010, Barco received an award for best lighting product for its Cyberlight 2.0 at the 2010 Rental & Staging Awards.

 

Daktronics
DAKTRONICS (Brookings, S. D.) announced its latest LED video project for Sony Corporation of America and News Corporation at New York City’s One Times Square Tower. The display utilizes Daktronics’ DVX LED video technology and measures approximately 35 ft. high and by 40 ft. wide. Click here to see the display in action.

 

As part of its “Write the Future” campaign, Nike took over Johannesburg's Southern Life Center building for an interactive LED light show. "Write the Headline" allowed fans around the world to root for their favorite World Cup player in a big way.

 

The installation, almost the size of half a football pitch, displayed submissions from Facebook, Twitter, QQ (a Chinese chat program), and Mxit (a South African IM app) that read from distances as far as 2.5 kilometers away. Users voted on the player they thought would “write the future.” Personal messages were then projected on the city's fourth largest building. The screen consisted of over 6,000 Daktronics ProPixel sticks.

 

Frost Design
FROST* DESIGN (Surry Hills, Australia) developed the brand strategy for Frasers Property, a global property development company whose mixed-use redevelopment of the old Carlton United Brewery is set to revitalize this once lackluster part of Sydney.

 

After developing an identity for Sydney Airport’s new retail precinct at the international terminal, the firm created the consumer advertising for the improved shopping and food and beverage offer. After research revealed that many travelers find leaving for a holiday a stressful experience, a strategy to tap into this insight was developed. In doing so, they named a condition familiar to many travelers: PFT, or Pre Flight Tension. 
Travelers were encouraged to plan ahead so they could spend more time at the airport enjoying the great new shops and restaurants – the perfect way to ease PFT!

 

GEMINI INCORPORATE (Decorah, Iowa) announced the opening of its newest 30,000-sq.-ft. plaque foundry in Decorah, Iowa. The new foundry is fully operational, expanding Gemini’s casting capacity to sizes of more than seven feet in diameter.

GNU Group
THE GNU GROUP planned, designed, and assisted in the implementation of a site signage and wayfinding program for SOLYNDRA's new manufacturing facility located in Fremont, Calif. The firm worked closely with Studios Architecture, CH2M Hill, and SOLYNDRA to facilitate the vehicular and pedestrian wayfinding needs of both its corporate and manufacturing functions.

 

NEMETSCHEK NORTH AMERICA (Columbia, Md.) announced a new partnership with Mad Macs Technology Distributions Limited to distribute Vectorworks software to China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

 

Poulin + Morris
POULIN + MORRIS (New York) was selected by UK HealthCare to develop a comprehensive identity and branding program for a new initiative, Arts in HealthCare, created to weave the arts into the fabric of the healthcare setting. The project includes a logotype, symbol, promotional brochure, press folder, and stationery.


ROWMARK (Findley, Ohio) announced the appointment of Techno Gestass (Montreal) as a Rowmark Authorized Distributor. Techno Gestass will distribute the complete line of Rowmark sheet materials with a strong focus on Quebec and the Maritime Provinces.
