Today's dynamic spaces are living, breathing organisms that can react and transform in response to a variety of environmental and sociological conditions. They rarely rely on a single technique or technology. Instead, they are created by multidisciplinary, collaborative teams using palettes of light, sound, imagery, and information. With the advent of new display technologies and state-of-the-art materials, environmental designers can create permanent spaces with the same range of flexibility that theater designers have enjoyed for ages.
SEGD's fourth annual Dynamic Environments workshop will focus on the integration of dynamic media into the design process from theatrical productions to corporate settings. The event will also explore the evolution of dynamic technologies from novelties to design features intrinsic to all new projects.
The workshop will literally break out of the box as we tour venues transformed by a range of dynamic media. While experiencing multiple destinations in Las Vegas -- from the Cirque du Soleil's Viva ELVIS Theater to the Las Vegas Boneyard and many stops in between -- we will explore the creative design component, the technical requirements, and the process of integration necessary to bring dynamic ideas to reality.
